The SPIR is  the largest pediatric IR community in the world. Together, we share our experience and expertise and support those who are exploring, developing and practising PIR. We want to work together to grow this specialty so that children around the globe can be offered the very best that IR can achieve. The SPIR provides additional resources to our members that we hope you will be interested in:

General
Membership

This class of membership will include physicians with a special interest and competency in pediatric interventional radiology. General members have the right to vote, to serve on committees, and to hold any office in the Society.  General members are required to pay annual dues.  There shall be no limit on the number of general members.  The requirements for general membership are as follows:

 

  1. The individual must be a physician, specializing in Radiology and/or Interventional Radiology, who holds certification, license or advanced qualifications within the nation of their training or practice, and is recognized in good standing by the local, regional or applicable country of origin governing medical board or practice authority. 
     

  2. The candidate must have completed at least one year of formal post-graduate training in pediatric radiology, interventional radiology, or interventional neuroradiology radiology, or have completed a residency in Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic radiology.

 

       OR

  1. If a candidate has not completed a formal post-graduate training program, but has special competency in pediatric interventional radiology, the Board of Directors may confirm this fact based on the application.
     

  2. The Board of Directors may grant exceptions to these requirements for candidates with valuable contributions to the society.

 

Requirements include submission of an application with a current CV, a Statement of Interest in PIR, and approval of the Board of Directors.

Annual Membership Fee: $200.00 USD

General Member
(Subsidized Dues)

This class of membership is for individuals who can fulfill all requirements for Active General Membership as described above but practice in an economically developing country that is significantly underserved by Pediatric Interventional Radiology and who are unable to maintain annual dues payments. Determination of an economically developed country is based on the World Bank Organization. Sponsored Members have the right to vote, to serve on committees, and to hold any office in the society. 

Lower-Middle Economy Annual Membership Fee: $100.00 USD

Low-Income Economy Annual Membership Fee: $0

Requirements include submission of an application with a CV, a Statement of Interest in PIR, and approval of the Board of Directors.

Member in
Training
Membership

This class of membership will include college or medical students, residents, and fellows with special interest in pediatric interventional radiology.  Requirements are as follows:

 

  1. The member-in-training must submit an application with a current CV, a Statement of Interest in PIR, and the Program Verification Form.

  2. The individual may remain a member-in-training until they complete their formal training.

 

Annual Membership Fee: $0

Associate
Membership

This class of membership includes other radiologists, physicians, or allied health partners such as (but not limited to) technologists, nurses, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, basic scientists, clinical researchers, and paramedical professionals that have special interest and competency in pediatric interventional radiology.

Requirements include submission of an application with a CV, a Statement of Interest in PIR, a letter of recommendation from an active SPIR General member*, and approval of the Board of Directors.

Annual Membership Fee: $0
